Mix-N-Match: Language Arts

Abbreviations

$3.00
Students play an interactive quizzing game to learn about abbreviations. This set includes matching cards. For example, one card reads, “Page.” The matching card gives the abbreviation, “p.” Every student in class receives one card with either a word or phrase or the abbreviation of a word or phrase. Students play Quiz-Quiz-Trade with their cards. The quizzing looks like this: Students put a hand up and find a partner. In the pair, one partner has the Page card and asks, “What is the abbreviation of page?” The other partner responds. Then they quiz the other way. The other partner has a card with the abbreviation of senator. He asks, “What is ‘Sen.’ an abbreviation for?” His partner responds. Students trade cards and find a new partner to quiz. After many rounds of pairing and quizzing, the teacher asks students to hurry and find their partner with their matching card. The repeated quizzing with multiple classmates makes the content super memorable. Your students have so much fun that they barely realize they’re learning!
