Students play an interactive quizzing game to learn about beginning consonants and vowels. This set includes matching cards. For example, one card reads, “Owl” and has a picture of an owl. The matching card gives the beginning letter, O. Every student in class receives one card with either an animal picture and name or a letter. Students play Quiz-Quiz-Trade with their cards. The quizzing looks like this: Students put a hand up and find a partner. In the pair, one partner has the Owl card and asks, “What letter does ‘owl’ begin with?” The other partner responds. Then they quiz the other way. The other partner has a card with the letter K. He asks, “What is an animal that begins with K?” His partner responds. Students trade cards and find a new partner to quiz. After many rounds of pairing and quizzing, the teacher asks students to hurry and find their partner with their matching card. The repeated quizzing with multiple classmates makes the content super memorable. Your students have so much fun that they barely realize they’re learning!
