Super Dive—Greg Robertson
Portraits of Character are easy-to-read stories that are just a few pages long. They feature everyday heroes as well as celebrities. Each story highlights an extraordinary display of character. In this story, Greg Robertson assists an injured skydiver. After reading the story, use the Thinking Questions to have students discuss in pairs or teams. For example, “Why is it important for a jump master to guide divers through a practice?” Use the Writing Ideas to have students write and share their writing with teammates or classmates. For example, “Do you think skydiving is too dangerous and should be banned? Or should people be allowed to risk their own lives if they want to? Write a paragraph about your views.
