Students play an interactive quizzing game to learn about double letter spelling words. This set includes matching cards. For example, one card reads, “pa__ __le.” The matching card gives the double letter that fills in the blanks, dd. Every student in class receives one card with either a word with double letters missing or a pair of double letters. Students play Quiz-Quiz-Trade with their cards. The quizzing looks like this: Students put a hand up and find a partner. In the pair, one partner has the pa__ __le card and asks, “What letters is this word missing?” The other partner responds. Then they quiz the other way. The other partner has a card with the double letters “gg.” He asks, “What is one word that uses these two letters?” His partner responds. Students trade cards and find a new partner to quiz. After many rounds of pairing and quizzing, the teacher asks students to hurry and find their partner with their matching card. The repeated quizzing with multiple classmates makes the content super memorable. Your students have so much fun that they barely realize they’re learning!
