Mix-N-Match: Language Arts

Prefixes

$3.00
Students play an interactive quizzing game to learn about prefixes. This set includes matching cards. For example, one card reads, “bi-.” The matching card gives the meaning of the prefix, two. Every student in class receives one card with either a prefix or the meaning of a prefix. Students play Quiz-Quiz-Trade with their cards. The quizzing looks like this: Students put a hand up and find a partner. In the pair, one partner has the bi- card and asks, “What is the meaning of this prefix, and what is a word that uses it?” The other partner responds. Then they quiz the other way. The other partner has a card with the meaning of a prefix. He asks, “Which prefix means ‘self?’” His partner responds. Students trade cards and find a new partner to quiz. After many rounds of pairing and quizzing, the teacher asks students to hurry and find their partner with their matching card. The repeated quizzing with multiple classmates makes the content super memorable. Your students have so much fun that they barely realize they’re learning!
