Students play an interactive quizzing game to learn about coin values. This set includes matching cards. For example, one card reads, “15¢.” The matching card shows coins matching that value, three nickels. Every student in class receives one card with either a written number of cents or coins. Students play Quiz-Quiz-Trade with their cards. The quizzing looks like this: Students put a hand up and find a partner. In the pair, one partner has the 15¢ card and asks, “Which coins equal fifteen cents?” The other partner responds. Then they quiz the other way. The other partner has a card with two quarters and a penny. He asks, “What coins are these? How much are they worth in total?” His partner responds. Students trade cards and find a new partner to quiz. After many rounds of pairing and quizzing, the teacher asks students to hurry and find their partner with their matching card. The repeated quizzing with multiple classmates makes the content super memorable. Your students have so much fun that they barely realize they’re learning!
