Students play an interactive quizzing game to learn about equivalent fractions. This set includes matching cards. For example, one card reads, “3/8.” The matching card gives a complex fraction that is equivalent, 18/48. Every student in class receives one card with either a simple fraction or a complex fraction. Students play Quiz-Quiz-Trade with their cards. The quizzing looks like this: Students put a hand up and find a partner. In the pair, one partner has the 3/8 card and asks, “What is an equivalent fraction for 3/8?” The other partner responds. Then they quiz the other way. The other partner has a card with a complex fraction. He asks, “What is an equivalent fraction of 3/27?” His partner responds. Students trade cards and find a new partner to quiz. After many rounds of pairing and quizzing, the teacher asks students to hurry and find their partner with their matching card. The repeated quizzing with multiple classmates makes the content super memorable. Your students have so much fun that they barely realize they’re learning!
