Holidays

$3.00
Students play an interactive quizzing game to learn about holidays. This set includes matching cards. For example, one card reads, “April Fool’s Day.” The matching card gives details about April Fool’s Day, including the date it is celebrated and a description of the holiday. Every student in class receives one card with either the name of a holiday or the date and description of a holiday. Students play Quiz-Quiz-Trade with their cards. The quizzing looks like this: Students put a hand up and find a partner. In the pair, one partner has the April Fool’s Day card and asks, “When is April Fool’s Day celebrated and why?” The other partner responds. Then they quiz the other way. The other partner has a card with the date and definition of New Year’s Day. He asks, “What holiday is on January 1st and celebrates the ringing in of the new year?” His partner responds. Students trade cards and find a new partner to quiz. After many rounds of pairing and quizzing, the teacher asks students to hurry and find their partner with their matching card. The repeated quizzing with multiple classmates makes the content super memorable. Your students have so much fun that they barely realize they’re learning!
