The questions are designed to break the ice and warm up students for talking to classmates. For example, “Do you have a nickname? If yes, what is it? How did you get it? If no, what nickname would you like? Why?” As students are up, interacting with classmates over these provocative questions, they get to know one another and develop respect. Strangers become friends. Classmates become more caring. Your class is a much more fun and safe place to be and to learn. Students can’t see each other’s pictures so they must scan their own picture carefully, ask questions, describe details, and take the role of the other. For example, “The elf in my picture is hanging a photo of Santa Claus on the wall. Is your elf also hanging a photo?” The game is easy to set up and play.
