Students play an interactive quizzing game to learn about the food pyramid. This set includes matching cards. For example, one card reads, “Bananas.” The matching card gives the food pyramid group for bananas, Fruits. Every student in class receives one card with either the name of a food or a food pyramid group. Students play Quiz-Quiz-Trade with their cards. The quizzing looks like this: Students put a hand up and find a partner. In the pair, one partner has the Bananas card and asks, “What food pyramid group do bananas belong to?” The other partner responds. Then they quiz the other way. The other partner has a card with the Meats food pyramid group. He asks, “What is one food item that fits in the meats group?” His partner responds. Students trade cards and find a new partner to quiz. After many rounds of pairing and quizzing, the teacher asks students to hurry and find their partner with their matching card. The repeated quizzing with multiple classmates makes the content super memorable. Your students have so much fun that they barely realize they’re learning!
