Students play an interactive quizzing game to learn about state geography. This set includes matching cards. For example, one card reads, “Tennessee is ________ of Wyoming.” The matching card gives a direction that can be used to relate two states, such as east. Every student in class receives one card with either a relation between two states or a direction. Students play Quiz-Quiz-Trade with their cards. The quizzing looks like this: Students put a hand up and find a partner. In the pair, one partner has a West card and asks, “What state is directly west of Utah?” The other partner responds. Then they quiz the other way. The other partner has a card with a relation between two states. He asks, “Fill in the blank: Tennessee is ________ of Wyoming.” His partner responds. Students trade cards and find a new partner to quiz. After many rounds of pairing and quizzing, the teacher asks students to hurry and find their partner with their matching card. The repeated quizzing with multiple classmates makes the content super memorable. Your students have so much fun that they barely realize they’re learning!
