To play, every student receives a Parts of Speech quiz card. Students then pair up with a classmate to quiz each other. For example, one student has a quiz card with a sentence that has the word “little” underlined. The student being quizzed must decide if the underlined word is a pronoun, adverb, adjective, or proper noun in the sentence. After quizzing both ways, coaching or praising, they trade cards and set off to quiz a new classmate with their new card. The repeated practice boosts retention of the content.
