For example, one student has a quiz card with the sentence “Will you please share ______ book with me?” on it. The student being quizzed must select the pronoun that agrees with the subject of the sentence, “your,” “she,” “you,” or “them.” After quizzing both ways, coaching or praising, they trade cards and set off to quiz a new classmate with their new card. Each partner receives a game board with a sheet of lined paper and word game pieces to place on the game board. Partners sit on opposite sides of a barrier so they can’t see each other’s game board or game pieces. Partner A arranges the word game pieces on the lined paper of the game board. Then, using only verbal communication, Partner A describes to Partner B which word goes where in the sentence so they can make a match. For example, “Put the word ‘the’ first to start the sentence.” When they think they have a match, they compare arrangements and celebrate. This set teaches making sentences using common vocabulary. Same-Different is a great game to develop analytic thinking skills and communication skills. Students can’t see each other’s pictures so they must scan their own picture carefully, ask questions, describe details, and take the role of the other. For example, “The elf in my picture is hanging a photo of Santa Claus on the wall. Is your elf also hanging a photo?” The game is easy to set up and play. Includes instructions, two Christmas illustrations, a recording sheet, and the answer key for the differences in the two pictures.

Each partner receives a game board with a backpack and school supply game pieces to place on the game board.
